The SlackSnap universal testing machine has a new feature. Our team has added a software update to our prototype that allows us to do cyclic loading. Now we can simulate a life time of loading in a day. For example we can load a carabiner up to 4 kN relax it to .5 kN and repeat that 9000 times. This test is a proof of concept. 6000 cycles took 10 hrs. We thought is was interesting to see how much the aluminum carabiner flexes at just under 1000 lbs.
